Prof. Dra. Maria de Lourdes Machado-Taylor
Maria de Lourdes Machado-Taylor holds a Licenciatura in Economics from the University of Porto (Portugal), Post-Graduate Studies in Administration, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration, both degrees from the University of Minho (Portugal). She is a Senior Researcher Associate at the Center for Research on Higher Education Policies (CIPES) and currently works at the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) in Portugal. Her areas of research include Management, Leadership, Strategies, Higher Education Policies, and Gender Studies. She has coordinated and contributed to multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research projects funded namely by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Gulbenkian Foundation (Portugal), Capes (Brazil), and European Commission. She has received research scholarships from Gulbenkian Foundation and Fulbright (USA). She is the author and co-author of 12 books, editor of three books, and author of 33 book chapters, and 65 refereed journal articles published in European, Asian, and American journals.
Prof. Dr. Manuel Pinto Teixeira
Graduated in Humanities and Theological Sciences at the Catholic University of Portugal (1978). Master’s degree in Knowledge Production and Diffusion in Media Convergence by the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (2002). Ph.D. in Communication, Advertising, and Public Relations by the University of Vigo (2004). Currently, he is an Adjunct Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Management and Technology – Escola Superior de Gestão, where he was Director and President of the Technical-Scientific Council (2013-2016). He is the director of the Digital Communication and Technology degree courses at the ISLA-IPGT School of Technology; and professor of several Curricular Units: Culture and Protocol; Communication techniques; Communication Theories and Models; Communication Law; Information Law; Computer Law and Organizational Management. Prior to teaching, he made a career in the field of media. He was a journalist, editor-in-chief, director and administrator of the newspaper “O Comércio do Porto” (1974-1991); editorial director (1982-2004) and executive director (1989-2004) at Grupo Lusomundo / Controlinveste, owner of “Jornal de Notícias”, “Diário de Notícias” and “TSF”; and the editorial, network and antenna director at RADIOPRESS – Comunicação e Radiodifusão, Lda. Expert in the area of Communication Sciences, he has published several works in the fields of Communication Law, Communication and Protocol, Ethics and Deontology of Communication, Culture, and Tourism. He is an integrated researcher at the Research Unit CEPESE – Research Centre for the Study of Population, Economy, and Society (University of Porto).
Prof. Dr. Manuel Almeida Damásio
Founder and Chairman of the General Assembly of ALIES, Ph.D. in History, Master in Economics, Graduated in Sociology, and Bachelor in Social Politics. Regarded as one of the progenitors of the private high education system in Portugal (U Livre, U Autonoma), he is the founder and CEO of Grupo Lusófona, created in 1994/95, which includes several universities, technical and professional schools in Portugal and in the Portuguese speaking countries universe.
